13-Day Discover Masai Mara, Bwindi and Lake Nakuru NP

Overview

This specially designed Kenya Safari is meant to get you an experience of the authentic East African National Parks i.e. Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru Parks of Kenya. you then also visit the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. The safari takes you through an opportunity to white water raft on Africa’s Longest River the Nile River, tour Nairobi City, Trek Gorillas and so many other adventures.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by our safari guide and transferred to the Hotel for your overnight stay. Along the way your Guide will sight out some places including landmarks around the city. On arrival at your hotel, the guide will brief you on your safari before you rest for the night. Bed and Breakfast.

Day 2: Nairobi City Tour

The Nairobi city walking tour covers the modern city center the colorful Nairobi city market, parliament buildings, Kenyatta International Conference Centre; the landmark of Nairobi (KICC), The 7th memorial park bombast, the Nairobi railway station museum, Nairobi snake park and the renowned National Museum where there are spell binding displays of the early man tribal regalia and the flora and fauna of Kenya. On this day other places, you can visit are the Elephant Orphanage, the Kazuri Bids shopping.

Day 3: Transfer from Nairobi to Masai Mara

You will wake up for morning breakfast, thereafter and drive via Narok town to Maasai Mara National reserve, the land of the Maasai tribe. The proud young Maasai warrior-nomads with their plaited hair, red cloaks, and spears, challenge your curiosity. The 700-square-mile Game Reserve is the Africa of your dreams, complete with wild animal’s grazing amid the superb rolling landscape of gentle hills and acacia woodlands. Check in to your camp. Have lunch in the campsite. There will be time to settle in before your first game drive. Have an Afternoon game drive in the reserve. Return to the lodge before dark. Target Dinner in the campsite.

Day 4: Masai Mara Early Game Drive and (Optional Hot Air Balloon)

On this day have an Optional, Hot air Balloon Otherwise, wake up and have Breakfast, Set out for an early morning game drive in the reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hour’s temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer, Lion, Cheetah and Leopard roam the vast grasslands in search for their next meal, it may be an unsuspecting impala or even a small one like the warthog. Whatever the players, the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe inspiring. We then head Back at the camp, enjoy your sumptuous breakfast. Then a Full day game drive. You will have your morning game drive when getting out of the national Park, With Lunch, en route.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru

After early breakfast depart for a morning game drive in the reserve, en-route to the gate. Drive a western direction. As you ascend the eastern wall of the rift Valley, lush coffee and tea plantations reveal themselves and your driver-guides will give you a brief talk about coffee farming in Kenya. You will be driven to lake Nakuru targeting lunch on the way or at your expected Lodge depending on time covered. In the afternoon you check in into your accommodation and relax as you get ready for the next day’s expedition. Dinner and Overnight in Nakuru.

Day 6: Nakuru Early Game Drive

After Breakfast, you will leave the campsite in Nakuru for the game drive in the park, in search for the big five animals i.e. lion, rhino, leopard and cheetah and more other animals. Lake Nakuru is famous for its millions of flamingoes and migrant birds from over the world, in Nakuru we have up to 425 different bird species. You will leave back to the Hotel before dark for your dinner and overnight. – Dinner in the hotel.

Day 7: Transfer from Nakuru to Jinja Uganda (source of the Nile)

After breakfast, we will transfer to the Ugandan border, then drive to Jinja city of Uganda, here on arrival we check into our hotel and some of the Optional Activities Here Include a Visit to the Source of the river Nile, Bungee Jumping, Quad Biking, Boat Ride. You also can spend some time strolling around the craft markets and getting to know the locals

Day 8: Jinja Uganda (Optional Full Day White Water Rafting)

After breakfast, on this day there are various optional activities to be done Including a Full Day of white-water Rafting, Visit to the Source of the river Nile, Bungee Jumping, Quad Biking, Boat Ride. You also can spend some time strolling around the craft markets and getting to know the locals.

Day 9: Jinja to Queen Elizabeth National park via the Uganda equator.

After morning breakfast, you will drive down to Kasese with beautiful, lush scenery along the way. After your lunch en-route, you will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park as you marvel at the breath-taking scenery, tea plantations, the open grasslands, long horned –Ankole Cattle, the woodlands and the Rift Valley Escarpment. Have a game drive in the evening as you drive to your place of accommodation. Dine and slumber at your lodge.

Day 10: Game-drive and afternoon boat-cruise in Queen Elizabeth NP

Start the day with an early cup tea/coffee before embarking on a game drive along the Queen’s Mile plus the Kasenyi trail. On this trail you will see elephants, water bucks, lions, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs plus warthogs in addition to several birds. Return for breakfast plus lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a 2 hours boat ride on the Kazinga Channel where you will encounter Buffaloes, Elephants, Hippos, kobs plus warthogs among others. This ride will also enable you to see an array of birds. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the Flamingoes in the salt lakes.

Day 11: Transfer to Bwindi via the Isasha sector

Leave Queen Elizabeth National park and embark on a transfer to Bwindi to meet the incredible gorillas of Uganda. You pass via the Ishasha sector where you meet the tree climbing lions enroute before proceeding to Bwindi. Time permitting, reach and proceed for a cultural encounter and then proceed for dinner, relaxation and overnight at your lodge.

Day 12: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi

Today’s the day! The walk can be anything from 30 mins to 5+ hours, but is usually in the 1-2-hour range. The going can be tough, the terrain steep, vegetation lush and the weather wet but when you finally come across the magnificent beasts it will all be worthwhile! You will spend one hour with them, observing their day to day activities at close quarters, following them through the forest. The time will fly but the memories will stay with you forever.

Please note:

  • If you are sick you will not be able to visit. The safety of the gorillas is paramount.
  • Unfortunately, your permit is only partially refundable, at the discretion of the park warden.
  • A reasonable level of fitness is required for this trek.
  • Good walking shoes, waterproof jacket and long trousers all in neutral colors are essential

 

Depending on the duration of your trek you’ll have time to proceed to Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxing evening boat ride in Lake Bunyonyi (Africa’s second deepest lake). The boat ride is done in hand-made canoes and it’s truly refreshing.

Day 13: Transfer to Entebbe

After your breakfast you will drive out of the park with a chance to catch some wildlife as we head to Entebbe targeting your flight. You have an option to stop over the equator for pictures and Craft shopping.

Best time to visit Kenya

Kenya is open all-year-long, the best wildlife viewing months in Kenya are during the Dry season from late June to October.

The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in August and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania.

 June to October –Dry Season. Wildlife is easier to spot.

July to October are the best months to see the wildebeest migration It gets very busy and crowded in the most popular parks.

November to May –Wet Season

The scenery is beautiful and green Rates drop because it’s the low season.
