Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport or Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your 6 days Masai Mara safari in Kenya– Bwindi gorilla trekking Bwindi begins with early arrival at Entebbe International Airport followed by a warm welcome from Go Kenya Safari guide and later, briefing on what you should expect on your holiday. You will then catch up with your flight to Kisoro or Kihihi airstrip where you will connect by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. If you choose to travel by road, you must have arrived yesterday and transfer today to Bwindi via the Equator with Igongo stopover before arriving in Bwindi for relaxation as you prepare for tomorrow’s gorilla experience.

Day 2: Uganda Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi

After breakfast, you are expected at Bwindi park headquarters by 7:00am for briefing on the guidelines for gorilla trekking. At 8:00am and with your packed lunch and drinking water, set off to begin a search for a gorilla group that will be assigned to you. You will be accompanied by an experienced park ranger guide, trackers and joined by porters who will be carrying your luggage. This is about 2 to 6-hour primate experience and once you come across mountain gorillas, you have only one hour to learn about their unique behaviors as they relate, dine, play and you can  take pictures together with these adorable gorillas.

Gorilla treks in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park also lets you sight other primate species including black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, olive baboons as well as bird species. After your marvelous gorilla trek, return to the lodge and in the evening visit the Batwa pygmy community for cultural tour where you will learn how the Batwa pygmies live, their ancient hunting and gathering techniques.

Day 3: Bwindi to Jinja via Kabale, Mbarara & Kampala.

After the stunning Uganda gorilla tracking experience in Bwindi, you wake up early morning and have your delicious breakfast before taking a transfer to Jinja via Kabale & Mbarara. You will make multiple stopovers before arriving for dinner relaxation and overnight at your hotel in Jinja.

Day 4: Drive from Jinja to Masai Mara

Have breakfast early in the morning and later, check out of the lodge ready to make nonstop drive to the Kenya safari destination of Masai Mara National Reserve. On arrival, meet your driver-guide for transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve.

Day 5: Game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

After early morning breakfast, you will have the whole day game viewing experience in the pristine wilderness of Masai Mara National Reserve. A game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve involves witnessing the great wildebeest migrations, sight African bush elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, cheetahs, leopards, lions, warthogs, Masai giraffes, jackals, zebras, hartebeests, topis, impalas, bird species and many more. You will have a picnic lunch and later, proceed for the second phase of the game viewing experience for you to look for more wildlife species.

Day 6: Masai Mara Walking tours and departure

Sum up your stay in Masai Mara National Reserve with early morning breakfast and then set off on a guided nature walk. This is for you to get a close interaction with nature while exploring different wildlife species, birds and different habitats. After the 2-hour nature walk, you will depart for Nairobi where you are dropped off and you will be able to proceed with your trip back home.

Best time to visit Kenya

Kenya is open all-year-long, the best wildlife viewing months in Kenya are during the Dry season from late June to October.

The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in August and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania.
